5 Budget-Friendly Beauty Hacks

on January 13, 2021

If you’re anything like us, you spend a good chunk of your hard-earned money on beauty products. Whether you’re a luxury beauty fanatic or love a good deal at the drugstore, all those cosmetics add up! We’ve collected some of our favorite budget-friendly beauty hacks that help you get the best bang for your beauty buck.

1. Fixing Dry Concealer

It happens to the best of us. Bringing home that new concealer from the drugstore to try and brighten up your undereye, only to find that the formula actually makes your eyes look WORSE. No sweat: try adding a few drops of facial oil (or a simple carrier oil like almond or jojoba) to make it a touch more moisturizing. Make sure to add a little bit at a time and test in between drops to get your desired texture!

2. Repress Broken Powders

Dropping your favorite blush or bronzer can be a frustrating mistake. But with a bit of rubbing alcohol and some paper towels, you can get your powders back in useable shape! Crush the chunks of makeup into a powder and then start adding rubbing alcohol a few drops at a time. When you get a paste consistency, place a paper towel overtop and press down firmly until flat. Let dry overnight, and you’re ready to go! We love using our Spatty Beauty Spatula for getting into the sides of makeup pans and mess-free mixing.

3. DIY Tinted Moisturizer

Wanting to try a tinted moisturizer but don’t want to drop the cash? Try making your own! Mix your favorite moisturizer with a bit of concealer you already have in your collection. Add more or less concealer to adjust your level of coverage. Perfect for that everyday “no makeup” makeup look.

4. Revive Dry Mascara

Is your favorite mascara getting a little dry and crusty? Try popping the base in some hot water and let sit. After a while, try scraping the wand on the sides to pick up softened mascara. Enjoy a couple more uses!

5. Get Every Last Drop of Your Lip Gloss

To get every drop of that expensive lip gloss, we love using our newest addition to the Spatty family: the Lip Spatty! Small enough to fit into almost every lip product, flexible enough to get into every nook and cranny, and the perfect size for lip application. Simply remove the stopper and get to that last 25% of product.
